C. Logan Coykendall, President / Chief Executive Officer
Logan Coykendall founded Hospitality Management Solutions, Inc. in 2004, now Hospitality Solutions. Mr. Coykendall currently presides as President/Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, Mr. Coykendall has the responsibility for all corporate functions and the management of the company’s portfolio of managed properties. In addition, Mr. Coykendall constantly works to expand strategic business relationships with owners and investors. Furthermore, he directs the company’s relations with hotel owners, financial investors, hospitality franchise companies and manages the daily operations of the company’s development team. He strives for growth and continuity in the company’s vision, ensuring that all areas of the company are effectively advancing towards set goals.
With over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Mr. Coykendall has extensive knowledge of revenue management, overall property operations, delivering superior quality and award winning service and providing an exceptional guest experience. In 2012, Mr. Coykendall was selected to serve on the Hampton Brand Operations Council and currently sits on the Board. He has served as President of the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau and currently serves on the Board of Governors for Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, as well as on the Board of Directors for Discover Life in America and the Gatlinburg Gateway Foundation. Prior to founding HMS, Logan served as Chief Financial Officer for Mountain Top Management Company, a position he held from 1999-2004. He began his career in the hospitality industry as General Manager for a Homewood Suites and has since worked with various other branded hotels and boutique hotels, including Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Country Inn and Suites, Quality Inn and many more.
Davy Thomas, Chief Operating Officer
Davy Thomas is a new addition to Hospitality Solutions, Inc. Mr. Thomas oversees the Operations for Hospitality Solutions, Inc. were he strives to maximize revenues through revenue management, and minimize expenses with initiatives and programs in order to bolster net profit for each client. He has a passion in planning, development and new openings. Mr. Thomas is responsible for communications, Guest Satisfaction goals and benchmarks, Quality Assurance and Brand Standard Audits as well as overseeing the implementation of all brand standards for each of the brands in the Hospitality Solutions, Inc. portfolio.
Mr. Thomas has an extensive background in the hospitality industry, starting 1995 with Oaktenn, Inc., where he was an integral part of the development and opening of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott– Gatlinburg Downtown. Mr. Thomas then moved into the General Manager role and was promoted to Director of Operations, where he oversaw several properties and was instrumental in opening the Bearskin Lodge in Gatlinburg. He has been very active in the Gatlinburg Hospitality and Lodging Association where he served on the board as well as held the title of Vice President and President during his tenure. In Mr. Thomas’ 18+ years in the hospitality industry, he has managed three hotel openings—two from the early planning stages and development—as well as overseen seven renovations, including four as Marriott properties, and one conversion of a Fairfield Inn to the existing Old Creek Lodge in Gatlinburg in 2011.
Kent Nelson, Project Manager/Engineering Specialist
Kent Nelson is responsible for development of maintenance, contractors and all aspects of engineering and special projects throughout the company’s hotels. Kent works to control, maintain and train all employees in safety, security and incident control. He is also responsible for the implementation of new standards and management of a high standard of constant quality assurance throughout all HMS properties. Prior to joining HMS, Kent as a mechanic and engineering specialist as well as serving over 18 years in the US Army.
Amelia Sweeney, Administrative Director
A native of Miami, Florida, Amelia Sweeney came to the company with a varied background in the hospitality industry, as well as administration, human resources and accounting. Her vast experience in management and administration started during a 23-year career as a Cryptologic Officer in the United States Navy, from which she retired in 2003. Amelia’s hospitality experience includes positions at the Casa Marina Marriott in Key West and Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN. Amelia serves the local community as an officer on the boards of several non-profit organizations. Amelia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Florida State University and a graduate degree in National Security Studies from the Naval War College.
Christie Jordan–Connatser, General Manager – Hampton Inn Gatlinburg and Hampton Inn Historic Nature Trail
Christie Connatser has served in the hospitality industry for 18+ years. She began her hospitality career as a hotel night auditor in 1995 and has experience with several brands, including Choice Hotels, Carlson’s Country Inn & Suites, and Hampton Inn. In 2006, Christie moved to Sevier County to join the Hospitality Solutions team. In addition to managing the daily operations Hampton Inn, she also serves on the Gatlinburg Hospitality Association Board of Directors, the Sevier County Lodging Alliance Board of Directors, and the Tennessee Hospitality Association Board of Directors. Christie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from King University, and is on a Master’s degree in Christian Leadership from Liberty University.
Cornelia Dobbins, General Manager – Hilton Garden Inn Gatlinburg
Cornelia Dobbins has over 16 years of experience in hospitality, all of which have been with the Hilton brand. She came to Gatlinburg from the Double Tree in Johnson City, where she maximized her skills in Sales and Marketing. Cornelia joined the company and took the helm of Hilton Garden Inn, the first LEED-certified hotel in Tennessee, in the summer of 2011. In addition to the huge responsibility of running the 118-room hotel, she serves on the national GM Advisory Board for the Hilton Garden Inn brand and locally on the board of directors for Gatlinburg Hospitality Association. She attended East Tennessee State University. She was selected for the Barbara Bejan General Manager of the Year 2014 for the entire Hilton Garden Inn Brand worldwide.
Charles Wilson, General Manager – Hilton Garden Inn Pigeon Forge
Charles Wilson has been with the company since 2009 and has over 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. He has worked in various management roles within the Hilton brand, as well as with Choice Hotels. Having joined HMS as part of the original crew at Hilton Garden Inn Gatlinburg, he started there as a front desk clerk and worked his way up to the position of Assistant General Manager. He assumed his current role as General Manager of Hampton Inn Pigeon Forge just prior to its opening in the summer of 2012. He then became the manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Pigeon Forge in September 2016. Charles has served on the Board of Directors of the Gatlinburg Hospitality Association.
Gary Bailey, General Manager – The Historic Gatlinburg Inn
Gary Bailey has served in the hospitality industry for more than 35 years. His career in hospitality began in 1977 as a desk clerk and night auditor. Since that time his career has expanded to all facets of the lodging industry. While working for many of the most recognizable brands, including Holiday Inns, Hilton, Country Inn and Suites by Carlson and Choice Hotels, he has served as Tour and Travel Sales Manager, Internet Sales Manager, Guest Services Manager, Assistant General Manager and General Manager. Gary is also a Certified Tour Professional (CTP) as accredited by the National Tour Association.
Eric Treadway, General Manager – Courtyard by Marriott, Gatlinburg
Eric Treadway has been in the hospitality industry for over 15 years with experience from the Westgate Resorts in Gatlinburg, TN and the Crown Park Resort, HCV Smoky Mountain Resort and as an Assistant General Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn, Gatlinburg TN. Eric has two Associate Degrees from Walters State, one in Culinary Arts and the other in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He is also an active member of the Gatlinburg Rotary Club and sits on the Board of Directors for the Gatlinburg Hospitality Association.
Tony Jovee, Food & Beverage Director
Overseeing our Food & Beverage and brand standards, Tony Jovee is responsible for creating exceptional food and beverage programs. With an extensive background in food & beverage, Tony also develops and maintains standards to ensure compelling brand differentiation. In addition, Tony manages Banquet and Catering for HMS properties. Responsible for all dining, bar, kitchen and dish personnel, as well as food inventory and stock control, Tony’s accountability has greatly enhanced our level of personalized service.
